Self-silencing is Making Women Sick


Two topics consistently arise during my work with Functional Health & Happiness Coaching clients:

As women, many (I would say most) of us have been culturally conditioned to be agreeable and "likeable". Our core need to be accepted is at stake, so our default reaction is to say "yes" to requests for our time, energy, or wisdom. But what needs are neglected in the process?


Knowing our true, felt-sense "yes" is often the first step in reclaiming our energy, followed closely by boundary setting. My Reiki teacher once shared that boundaries are not barriers or walls - they are simply lines in the sand of where we can meet others WHILE ALSO honoring our needs.
